Fontaine Francaise Castle

Fontaine-Française Castle in Côte-d'Or is an elegant 18th-century residence in the classical style. Built on
the site of an ancient medieval fortress, it features a grand double staircase at the front, between the terrace and the pond. The 7-hectare pond stretches out in front of the castle's façade and makes for a peaceful and charming setting.

The guided tour of the Louis XV-style main building will take you to the guard room, drawing rooms and ceremonial rooms, where you can admire magnificent antique tapestries and period furniture.

Fontaine-Française Castle is also noteworthy for its French formal park, a listed Remarkable Garden. A most inviting place for a walk, it has hundreds of lime trees pruned to form archways, in a layout which has remained the same since the 18th century. The yew and box topiary parterres add the final touch to this particularly verdant setting.

The family connection is through the Binney family and their connection to the Field and Goodale family. One of the Binney family married into Italian nobility and they married into French nobility. My connection would be by marriage via my paternal family.
The granddaughter of Filiberto Vittorio Carlo Sallier de la Tour, 6th Prince of Castel Cicala and 5th Duke of Calvello, and I have exchange emails updating the family tree. She tells me that her son's marriage took place here as recently as 2015. I understand the castle would be through her husband's family and is still owned and maintained by the family.
